Weekend of March 6th and 7th

Here are just a few things going on this weekend.....

The World of Wine in Temecula.  This is a two day self guided tour of wineries in the Temecula Valley.  You get to visit up to 25 wineries over the two days.  Each winery will offer wine paired with food.  http://www.temeculawines.org/events/index.php?events_id=12

On Sunday, Cooks Confad offers "Egg".  A handful of chefs come together and prepare a full menu themed around the delectable egg.  Event is taking place at Georges Modern Kitchen in La Jolla.  A portion of the proceeds from tickets will go towards San Diego Urban Slow Food.

**I have never been to a WineStyles store before, so this is what we will be checking out this weekend. Why not try something new, right!

Vinz Wine Bar.  They are offering a filet mignon special on Saturday night and live music.  8 to 9oz. filet topped with mine shaft blue cheese and a savory port wine reduction, served with truffle and black barley enhanced smashed potatoes with fresh vegetables.....all for $18.  Live music from Dante Fire Trio (Jazz/Blues).

**After our time at the WineStyles tasting, we will be headed over to Vinz.  The filet mignon and live music should be a nice way to end the evening.

2005 Miller Syrah Sage Canyon Vineyard - Napa Valley

We received a great deal on a mixed case of Miller Wine Works wine (2005 and 2006 Syrah's from Sage Canyon Vineyard and Kiger Family Vineyard and also 2005 Works from Kimberly's Selection).  Never had it before and decided to share a case with a friend.  For the price, simply could not resist deal.  Last night we tried our first bottle, the 2005 Miller Syrah, Sage Canyon Vineyard.  This wine had a firm body and notes of blackberries and tar.  On the nose it provided a field of flowers and small amounts of anise.  A bit drier at the finish then I prefer, but over all a nice bottle of wine.

The Beginning!

Welcome to my blog. I finally did it! Most of you know that I love food and wine. Several of you suggested that I blog about my cooking adventures. I have decided to expand this blog from not only cooking, but also include restaurants, wine, and events that I have partaken in or just may be happening around the local scene. I am thrilled to be able to start sharing with you my food and wine experiences.
